It is a state of mind that causes a person to be out of touch with reality. People suffering from psychosis often experience delusions, hallucinations, disorganized speech or behavior, difficulty in thinking, and low levels of motivation or energy.

Psychosis can be caused by various factors such as substance abuse (including alcohol), brain injury, severe mental illness such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, prolonged stress or traumatic events, some medical conditions such as neurological diseases or endocrine disorders. It can also be induced by medications used to treat psychiatric conditions such as depression or anxiety.

People experiencing psychosis may have difficulty communicating with others and engaging in their normal daily activities due to impaired thinking and reasoning skills. Treatment for psychosis usually involves medications to control symptoms and reduce the likelihood of recurrence. Psychotherapy and lifestyle changes may also be helpful in managing the disorder. If you are concerned that you may be experiencing psychosis, it is important to speak with your doctor right away.
